Tidlos Bowls

Tidlos(TImeless) bowls are made from a single piece of wood milled from a solid section of the tree. 

No bowl is ever the same as the rings act like fingerprints and will always have their own unique signature.

It can take up to a year for a bowl to be made in this style.  First the tree is cut down and the sections of the tree are cut into sizeable sections or {blanks) to be further milled on the lathe.  Once the first turning on the lathe is completed the (bowl blanks) are coated in wax to slow the drying process and prevent cracks.  The bowls are checked regularly over a period of 4-8 months to check moisture levels and monitor any potential cracks that need to be remedied.  Once the bowls have reached a stable moisture level (are dry)  they are then re-mounted on the lathe and turned to a finished size and shape.  The bowls are sanded and then finished with our own Traeskal Board and Bowl Oil and Wax. 

As you can see the process takes a lot of time and patience.  This is a product that will often be out of stock because once we have sold out the bowls that are completed it can take a while for new bowls to be ready.  The goal is to find a balance with this process.
